School Nurse
I would like to take this time introduce myself as the new school nurse here at Chesterfield High School. My name is Penny Jacobs. I have resided in Chesterfield for nearly 31 years with my husband. We have two grown children who attended Chesterfield schools from kindergarten through high school.
I began my nursing career 30 years ago when I graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. I started my career in 1990 at Union Regional Hospital, now known as Atrium Health, in Monroe, NC. I worked in the operating room and have also worked in kidney dialysis and occupational health. I have always had a passion for school nursing and I always knew that at some point in my life I would pursue a career as a school nurse. I began my school nursing career 15 years ago at New Heights Middle School in Chesterfield County School District.
In August of 2020, I embarked on my new journey here at Chesterfield High. I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful and caring community. It is my goal here at CHS to keep our children healthy, safe, in school, and ready to learn. I truly believe that communication is key, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. The transition to this school has been amazing. I would like to thank you all for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to take care of your children.
Thank you,
Penny Jacobs, RN

Student Medication / Illnesses
Medication, both prescription and over-the-counter (Tylenol, Motrin, Tums, Midol, etc.), may be administered at school only when there is written permission from the parent/ guardian and/or licensed health care provider who is authorized by SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Permission forms can be picked up from the school nurse or main office. All medication to be given at school must be brought to school in the original container with the proper label attached. The school nurse will administer all medication. The unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) will do so in the school nurse absence.
Please advise me if your child has any contagious diseases, major illness, or any surgery throughout the school year. In many cases, a doctor’s note will be required for your child to return to school. If your child is excluded from gym for a medical reason, a doctor’s note will be required before your child may resume activities. A doctor’s note is required if it is necessary for your child to ambulate with the assistance of crutches.
